Art Flows!
I am a painter. My work is a collection of impressionism and expression—maybe a hybrid style. I prefer a brush over a knife and enjoy creating fluid pieces. Sometimes the use of acrylics poured onto a canvas can be quick and challenging when producing something that is abstract and difficult to replicate. Some of my favored pieces reflect this style. However, painting loose realism is so satisfying. Color, shapes, texture, and shadows on canvas give me a new definition of productivity, aka, creativity as I have moved away from a career in government to a practice in art.
My work is typically inspired by my surroundings. And, years ago when I visited the gardens in Giverny France I was captivated by color and form in the garden. I was hypnotized by the Lily pads in Monet’s Pond. My wish was to create my own canvas work using acrylics and oils. I would mimic paintings from the impressionist to understand style. Soon I realized that art is not copy-- it is an expression from within— Art Flows. When I paint, I typically don't follow style rules. I paint from feeling or from the photographs I have taken in my surroundings.
I am fortunate to live in a beautiful state such as California as I am always surrounded by the scenery of The Delta and the rich agriculture in Sacramento's region. Some of my work reflects this locale.
There is so much to capture in acrylic, oil and mixed media on canvas! My artistic journey is just beginning as my pieces reflect how "Art Flows".
